Clinics
Clinics by stroke, starts and turns
Each clinic takes one focus. Swimmers join the clinics their level suits.
- All levels
Freestyle
Body line, a kick that holds the stroke together, and breathing to both sides. Coaches work from the deck, then in the water beside each lane.
- All levels
Backstroke
Head position, rotation from the hips and a steady kick. The turn at the flags is practiced on its own before it joins the stroke.
- Stroke combinations
Breaststroke
The order of pull, breathe, kick and glide, and the two-hand touch at the wall. Kick sets with and without a board.
- Stroke combinations
Butterfly
Rhythm from the chest, two kicks to every pull and a low breath. Short repeats with rest, so the stroke stays together.
- Starts and turns
Starts
Set position, entry and the first kicks, practiced from the deck first. A coach is beside the lane for every start.
- Starts and turns
Turns
Open turns and flip turns, and the streamline off every wall. Each clinic ends with push-offs.
A clinic evening
How an evening runs
- 01
Step 1: Arrive and warm up
Swimmers sign in with a coach, then warm up with easy lengths while the coach reads the lane.
- 02
Step 2: Drill from the deck
The coach shows the focus on the deck, then in the water, one lane at a time.
- 03
Step 3: Practice in sets
Short repeats on the focus, with rest between, and a coach beside each lane.
- 04
Step 4: Finish with push-offs
Every evening ends with push-offs and a word with each swimmer about the next clinic.
